There has been a supreme lack of posting...

Well, I looked at my 2011 stats so far, and I am horribly dissapointed in myself. Counting this post, I've only done 34 posts this year. This is exceedingly lame, and I must do better over pain of lack of posting.

You know, I learned something this afternoon. I realized just what an amazingly HUGE Greek Mythology NERD I am. Why? Well, let's start with the main reason I have not been working on my novel: rather than writing about a fictional character that is named after a Greek goddess, but really has nothing whatsoever to do with said goddess (except with the whole returning-balance stuff), I'm looking through this AWESOME volume called "the Dictionary of Classical Mythology," (I cannot remember the author's name), and looking for every nymph I can find, writing down her name, and recording what she did (even if it's like, "mother of Obscure Heroine"). How many nymphs have I recorded so far (including the Mothers Of Obscure Heroines)? Well, I have no idea. I'm in the middle of the P's, and I have probably done... I don't know... 100, maybe? Something like that. The number is BIG.

Anyway, the second level of my Greek mythology obsession is that, after seeing "helped Odysseus in 'the Oddessy'" or "helped Obscure Greek Soldier Number Forty-Two in 'The Illiad'" approximately 780,000,000,000 times, I have finally decided that I would go ahead and get a translation of "the Illiad" to see what all these nymphs were up to.

And, for the record, it may just be the translation, or the fact that I'm only eight pages in, or the fact that it's an old edition and I'm third person to check this copy out since 1994, but there's NOTHING about how Achilles was dunked into the river Styx (who's a nymph as well) by Thetis (who's a NEREID).

It just says that Thetis was crying as she saw Achilles decide to have a short life with eternal glory or something.
So... yeah.
Anyhoo, I'm off, but I'll return later, when I'm done being killed by the SAT, not writing my novel, not doing push-ups, hiking, and sleeping so I won't die on the SAT.
