Well, here I am. In the library. Blogging. Two hours before the commencement of the nine-o-clock rehearsal occurs. Oh, joy. This is going to be difficult. Show week always is. This week is when we start rehearsing with a full band, doing full runs of the show, and hoping and praying to whatever deities that we worship that we don't fail too much by opening night. This is also the time of full lights, full costume, and full levels of craziness. Also, eating dinner at school rather than at home. And trying to do homework between scene changes, scenes, costume changes, and anything else that might be going on.
Which is a lot.
Although I really like show week, this is usually the hardest week of the school year. With the all-grades show, there isn't as much pressure not to mess up. Not that there isn't any pressure not to mess up in the all-grades show. It's just there's MORE pressure not to mess up in the musical because there are professional musicians in the pit and we don't want to waste more of their time than is necessary. Also, they're PROFESSIONAL.
Also, there is the fact that our musical is normally really good. Except, for the record, this time isn't going to be really good. It's going to be fairly bad, in fact. Why?
Certain characters who shall remain nameless STILL don't know all of their lines. These people are significant enough to have a lot of lines, so it's somewhat excusable; however, they have all of THREE DAYS to make it right. Okay, three and a half. But still. The point is, normally by this point people would have all their lines memorized and would be held over pain of death and being cut from the show if they did not.
Also, we would have already had the platform built on the stage, when we only got it on Saturday. This is not going to go well. However, as my mom rightly said, normally a terrible tech week means a great opening night. HOPEFULLY that will prove true. There are also still some props to be dealt with, and some other annoying things that seem to happen during show week.
However, I think a lot of the time, all this stuff happens during show week in order to have a good show. But this still doesn't disprove the fact that this will be the HARDEST show week in the history of Show Weeks.
